This website will have free online classes with videos to show how fabric can be designed to fit within the shape of a sewing pattern to create truly unique one-of-a-kind garments. This is possible because the Print-on-Demand fabric services, such as Spoonflower, print images as "Whole Cloth" on a variety of different woven and knit fabrics.

For fabric to be designed to fit within the shape of an individual pattern the pattern(s) must first fit the body that is to wear the garment. There are two ways patterns can be created: custom-fit Bespoke patterns and custom-made RTW patterns. Bespoke patterns are designed to fit a specific individual. RTW patterns are designed to fit as many bodies as possible.

On the website Patternmaking Classes the books and related online classes for How to Make Sewing Patterns and How to Make Custom Fit Bras & Lingerie show how to create Bespoke patterns. The book Fashion & Costume Design in Quarter Scale illustrates the differences between Bespoke and RTW patterns. The classes described on this website are an extension of the instructions provided in these resources.

Using a computer program is essential to intigrate fabric designs into pattern shapes. These classes use the free Studio graphics program from Silhouette America. The free online classes at Computer Aided Pattern Design demonstrate how the various functions of Studio work in order to create both Bespoke & RTW patterns. This software is used to drive Silhouette America's print-and-cut equipment which can be used for a complete CAD/CAM cycle.
